Two bomb blasts have ripped through a mosque in Maiduguri killing many, eyewitnesses say. The blast is believed to be carried out by Islamist sect, Boko Haram, also injured many.
The blasts occurred this morning when worshippers gathered for prayers.
Despite warnings by Nigeria’s military, Boko Haram has continued to carry out strikes mainly in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
Rescuers from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have evacuated six dead bodies of the victims of an early morning suicide bombing in Maiduguri, Borno State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred during the early Morning Subhi Prayer at a mosque behind Magistrate Court Polo Area in Maiduguri.
It was further gathered the explosion was carried out by a suspected lone suicide bomber whose two accomplices escaped, when some vigilant members of the community accosted them on their suspicious movements.
A senior health worker confirmed that the 6 bodies have been deposited in the mortuary, while about 17 other injured victims are being treated in Specialist and teaching hospitals in Maiduguri.
